An innovative approach to outdoor education and learning, encouraging children’s own explorations through the world they live in and the woodland spaces. Forest school is regularly held at Over Primary School in their Forest area, where practitioners and children are able to build stories and explore the natural environment. Practitioners will plan activities and opportunities which complement the natural environment to develop the children’s knowledge and experiences.  Our outdoor experiences are not limited to these specific sessions and we utilise the outdoor spaces we have locally in the community. Research has shown the Forest school can contribute to children’s health, helping to support physical exercise and mental well being and establish healthy behaviours for the future. Forest school provides the opportunity to learn to risk assess and take part in age appropriate experiences such as climbing over logs.
